Senior Accountant

Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the Finance Department and will be responsible for the daily accounting operations of the Club. This person will have direct responsibility for weekly and monthly financial reporting and will assist with cash flow planning, operational budgeting and monitoring, and strategic business planning.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assists with all aspects of accounting operations and the preparation of annual financial forecasts, budgets, annual/quarterly/monthly financial statements and other accounting reports and projects as necessary.
  • Assist in the annual audit with outside auditors.
  • Assist with tax compliance work performed by outside accounting firm, including local, state, federal tax returns.
  • Ensure timely compliance with state and local reporting obligations, such as annual reporting to Delaware and Florida, sales tax, property tax, etc.
  • Review/prepare various balance sheet reconciliations and associated journal entries.
  • Perform monthly closing journal entries.
  • Manage daily general ledger entry and maintenance.
  • Responsible for assisting with League financial reporting.
  • Review invoices, bills, vouchers, and other documents for accuracy.
  • Correspond with vendors, respond to inquiries and resolve any discrepancies noted.
  • Assist with other accounting functions as needed, including bank reconciliations, monthly reporting, budgeting and administration work (AP/AR).
  • Complete special projects and ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required.
  • Research and apply accounting guidance as needed.
  • Develop, maintain and follow internal controls and accounting policies to ensure the integrity of financial reporting. 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience within the accounting field; CPA preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting and banking systems.
  • Experience implementing an ERP/accounting system preferred.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for soccer is a plus.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends and holidays when required.
